Easily Amused

Proof that I am not the only one in my house who can occupy herself when most people wouldn't be entertained at all.

My kids were finishing up lunch when my daughter asked me if I could do a cartwheel. I got up and did one. Immediately after I did the first "perfect cartwheel" my kids were on a quest to take a picture of it. We spent about an hour taking pictures and missing, trying again, missing and on and on. Most people would have given up. Why does anyone really need a picture of me doing a cartwheel anyway? My kids were determined. They played with settings on the camera, experimented with turning the flash on and off to see if that made the picture take faster or slower, and finally got a picture of me doing a cartwheel. Pay no attention to what I'm wearing or how I look...I am going to swim in a few hours after I drop my kids off at their pottery camp.

P.S. in the last photo, look at Maya looking at me like I am insane. And also look under my dishwasher for the cake pans that are collecting water because it is still leaking.

I love this, Tori. Because it's like a science experiment where you give your kids a bunch of different items and tell them to figure out how they react with one another. Only this time, they have a bunch of different settings on the camera and they're trying to learn how to use it. I bet next time you're in a quandary over how to take a picture, your kids will have plenty of ideas!

Exactly what Nilsa said! Yay for you for letting your kids figure it out and for being such a good sport!

Plus I am insanely jealous that A) you can do a cartwheel when I never could and B) that your kitchen is large enough to do cartwheels in.

I have always wanted to be able to do a cartwhell and have never been successful.

Great form!

Whenever you post pictures of your gorgeous kitchen, I end up looking at my 8x10 foot 'kitchen' with no dishwasher, a broken stove top, and a chipped ceramic sink and I end up ordering Thai and crying in my ridiculously small living room.

First of all, I want your kitchen. Making cupcakes in your kitchen would be heaven.

Secondly, and most importantly, you are AWESOME!

So how many cartwheels did you wind up doing to capture these photos? Wow. Nice job, Ms. Gymnast!

I can't do a cartwheel. Color me impressed! Your kitchen is so spacious you could have a dance party in there. :-)

This was so cool. And so much fun for the kids to learn how to take photos with different settings.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, you amaze me with your energy and what you do with your kids.

SoMi's Nilsa-I love to let them figure things out and expore their curiousity. Hopefully that is good for something in their future.

tara-I have two surprising talents. Cartwheels and headstands. My kids could wath me do either for HOURS and quite often do. If only my parents had let me take gymnatics when I was little! Who know what other cool things I could have learned.

Chris-I can only do cartwheels one way though. If I tried to lead with the other side, I would fall on my head.

Kadonkadonk-I have to clean it all though which isn't fun.

SM-We need an island though to mak it a better baking kitchen. Well, we don't NEED one, but it would make it better for baking if we had one.

kapgar-I did cartwheels for at least an hour. Seriously. I didn't think much of it until when I went to swim, my arm was really sore. It took me a second and then I realized it was from all the cartwheels!

wafelenbak-I should tell the jump rope story about my kitchen. We seriously taught my oldest daughter how to jumprope in the kitchen. Not one person jumprope but the big two people twirl the rope while one or two people jump. That was a LOT of fun!

Sizzle-we totally could and have. We do "dancing in the dark" which is totally different than I would imagine with my dirty mind. We turn off the lights, crank up the music and then have a little flashlight as our only light and then dance like crazy. We used to do it every night before bed but haven't done it as much now that my oldest thinks we are "so lame" when we do it.

marty mankins-I think it isn't so much that I am a great mom or whatever, it is more that I am a big kid and love to have fun. My oldest once said I was like Pippy Longstocking. If you know anything about her, you could see how it is sort of true except that I am an actual adult.
