1. My surgery is scheduled for July 28th. I am not crazy about the date because it is sort of close to when school starts again and we have a bunch of stuff set up for the few weeks before school that now I will have to cancel or change. I tried to get them to do the surgery earlier, like in the beginning of July, but we just couldn't find a date that worked for the oncologist and my doctor, and also had an operating room available. It is what it is, the surgery will happen 4 weeks before school starts and 4 weeks before I start watching daycare kids again and I'll just have to hope I am healed enough to deal with it. Oh, and my husband was supposed to be out of town for work that week too. Hopefully he can change it.
2. I am very excited about a new business I am working on and once the details are final, I will fill you in. Just know that it is something fun and I can't wait to get started. I have only told 2 people outside of my family about this so if you know what I am talking about, you are one of them.
3. We went to the beach yesterday and I had my daughter sunscreen my back. She apparently didn't want to get sunscreen on my bathing suit so all around the edges of where the straps are I am burned. It is the funniest sunburn I have ever seen, a perfect outline of my bathing suit on my back. It still hurts like a sunburn though. When we got home from the beach we had milkshakes for dinner. I am not kidding.
4. Both my boys now have short hair. My 9 year old son hates his haircut and will have long hair again by the end of summer I am sure.
5. I have been knitting a lot.
6. We have been playing a lot of board games at night before the kids go to bed. We found a new favorite game,
Whoonu which is very similar to Apples to Apples but a little more fun for kids to play. My 5 year old needed a little help reading some of the cards but it worked out fine for me to whisper them in his ear and then when it was my turn as the whoozit, someone else helped him.
7. This post is sort of boring so I am going to end now.

My favourite board game is 'the settlers of catan' though 5 might be a tiny bit too young for it...
Loving the pattern on the pinky-purple socks!
Heather-I have no idea what that game is so now I need to look it up. I LOVE board games so I am always up for new ones.
Last night we played cranium and my 5 year old was my partner. I had to act out bungee jumping and I was acting like a fool. Everyone was laughing at ME and he thought they were laughing at him so he stomped out of the room all angry. After he realized they were laughing at me, he said "you did look sort of ridiculous mom". I probably should have written that in the post. That is more interesting than most of what I did write!
Got you in my calendar now as "on call." =) And I'm dying to know what kind of business you're getting into -- exciting!
I love that pink sock that you started on. It looks like a honeycomb!
Whoo to new businesses!!!
I've been craving chocolate malts lately. But someone in my house won't take the freaking hint and get me one. Boo
Ohh, can't wait to hear about the business. Crack Brownies, LLC?
And, even though it's way in advance, good luck with the surgery!
i'm glad you finally got a date for the surgery even though it's not till late -- at least things are moving now. but the anticipation is no fun.
xoxo
PS nice socks!
SoMi's Nilsa-I emailed you about the business, and thank you for putting it in your calendar. I'll text you when I'm done. We'll have to talk before then though because you need the password to my blog and I don't know if I have your cell phone number saved! I think so, but I'd like to make sure.
SM-YOU are one of the two (now 3) people who know what I'm talking about. I am so excited!
Isn't the pink sock cool? SO easy to do and it looks really complicated. My favorite kind of project. Much better than the ones that are impossibly complicated and look simple!
kapgar-as much as I would love to do a food related business, Illinois makes it really difficult to do that. There are so many licensing things you need to do and I just don't feel like doing all that. It actually makes my head hurt to think about everything I'd need to do to pull that off. Plus then shipping food is crazy complicated too. What I'm doing is much easier. Well, as far as licensing and all.
Sarah-I actually just found out this morning so I didn't have time to think it through but I was thinking about how little time we have after the surgery when really I should have been thinking of how MUCH time we have BEFORE it. Now that I'm thinking about it that way, I feel better about it. I still have to move some stuff around and am sad that some of the "just before school starts" stuff has to be moved earlier when it won't be nearly as cool but I can work with it and make it fun anyway.
I am sorry to hear that the surgery is going to disrupt your summer :(
I am excited to hear about the business!
Can we be sunburn twins? LOL. Mine finally went away now. Did you go to Independence Grove?
Looking forward to hearing of your business venture and wishing all the best with that and on your surgery.
I hope you find some peace and fun in the meantime.
I hate that you have to have surgery- boo on surgery! Does the 28th mean that you can come to Nilsa's on the 26th so I can give you A BIG HUG?
Selfishly hoping so.
New business venture? Sounds exciting!
A very silly game recommendation for you: Quelf. It has you doing all of these ridiculous things like sitting under the table until your next turn. We love it.
And I'm sorry the date for the surgery isn't very good timing at all. That stinks.
And I love the socks :)
Good luck on the surgery! I'll be thinking about you for sure!!!
Love the socks - wish I could knit like that. :)
Good luck with the surgery. I'm sure you will post more once it gets closer.
As for the sunburn, I've had those before, trying to apply my own sunscreen. My step daughter calls it "tard tan", even giving me the nickname of MarTard when I burn in odd spots.
